John Mayer Drops New Album 'Sob Rock'

Pop rock blues guitarist cum singer songwriter John Mayer releases his new album after 4 years since his last one. And he calls this new album 'Sob Rock'. On one listen through the entire album, the listener can easily go way back into the '80s. John Mayer, according to me, has always been able to maintain the high quality of art pop, Nashville rock and blues, and a curious blend of country jazz, in his own special style over the years, even though many people have not taken him seriously.

In his new album 'Sob Rock', he maintains that uncanny knack of belting out heartbreaks on the guitar and in his song writing, and has been able to fish out some really nice tunes and great songs, as fans will always relate to him as the romantic desperado.

If you wanna roll me, then you gotta roll me all night long And if you wanna use me, then you gotta use me 'til I'm gone I'm not a fallen angel, I just fell behind I'm out of luck and I'm out of time If you don't wanna love me, let me go I'm runnin' for the last train I'm runnin' for the last train home

The opening track 'Last Train Home' sets the tone of the album. The signature style of Mayer's guitar work in '80s pop is fully evident here as we will be reminded of Toto's song 'Africa'. The lyrics of this one from John says it all. and you can have a pretty idea what's to expect from this album. When he can belt something as brilliant as 'Carry Me Way', John Mayer will continue to shine on us with his guitar.

John Mayer has had his fair share of romances and female attention all through his career, but that according to me, has always empowered him to write hit songs quite regularly, and I am sure, few of the tracks in this new album like 'New Light', 'Why You No Love Me', 'Guess I Just Feel Like' and a couple more will rule the radio waves in the coming time.

Without much talking I will leave you all a playlist from the album, and will highly recommend this album if you are already a fan or not even one. John Mayer creates beautiful music. Even his music somehow I feel remains under rated, every John Mayer album will have something to fall back onto.
